Zildjian Gen16 Buffed Bronze 14" Hi-Hat Pair

The Gen16 Buffed Bronze cymbal produces a richer and warmer tone then the original Gen16 nickel plated cymbal. Each Gen 16 cymbal utilizes a patented pattern of holes, in varying sizes to reduce the sound pressure level (SPL) of an acoustic cymbal. The cymbal masters at Zildjian developed special manufacturing techniques to create the world's first reduced volume acoustic cymbal.

1 Review "Zildjian Gen16 Buffed Bronze 14" Hi-Hat Pair"

Brilliant low volume cymbals for challenging acoustics or practicing, plus electronic wizardry via the pickup and module that expands the sounds available exponentially..
Bernard 18 March 2016 I have quite a number of the original, nickel plated Gen 16s (2 x 14" hats, 2 x 18" Crashes, 2 x 20" Rides, 1 x 10" Splash) with the pickups, cabling and two modules (that can handle 5 cymbals each and enables a choice of 25 different cymbal sounds - recorded from Zildjan's reference vault - for each cymbal (i.e. 125 in total)). I've used mine in a live recording session once (recording direct from the module) and many times acoustically in small rooms where normal cymbals have been too loud because of the resonance of the room. Acoustically the Gen 16s sound great, but at a much lower sound pressure level than a normal cymbal (kind on the ears). Perfect for practicing or playing in small venues. With the addition of the pickups and "brain" and a good PA the cymbals excel in any environment, accessing a significant library of Zildjan's reference cymbals that are stored in the "brain". The only downside is that the brain can't be driven via midi, but then Zildjan do also have their reference cymbals available in software form that comes with a cut down version of BFD for running from your DAW. I have the A series version of this software and the cymbals sounds are awesome. I use them on all my recordings. Do yourself a favour and check them out.
