The Seymour Duncan APH–1N Alnico II Pro is a neck–position passive humbucker that delivers the warm, expressive tones that defined classic rock and blues. Designed and manufactured in the USA, this pickup uses Alnico 2 magnets to produce a smoother, more vintage response compared to the harder Alnico 5 typically found in high–output humbuckers. The DC resistance measures 7.5k, placing it in the medium–output range where clarity and articulation remain intact even under heavy gain. The tortoise shell cover adds traditional aesthetic appeal to any Les Paul or similar twin–humbucker guitar.
Four–conductor shielded cable provides full wiring flexibility, allowing coil–splitting, series/parallel switching, and phase reversal configurations without modification. The Alnico 2 magnet structure produces a softer magnetic pull on the strings, allowing them to vibrate more freely and sustain longer with enhanced harmonic complexity. This pickup responds dynamically to playing touch, cleaning up noticeably when rolling back guitar volume controls. The lower magnetic strength also reduces the harsh treble peaks that can make bridge pickups sound thin or shrill, making the APH–1N particularly responsive to tube amplifier breakup and overdrive pedals.
