Pete Thorn needed a guitar that could handle extreme whammy bar abuse on tour with The Classic Rock Show, so he worked with John Suhr to create this signature HSS model loaded with high-output pickups and a dive-only FU-Tone Floyd Rose bridge. The SSH Plus humbucker in the bridge position delivers the searing, high-gain tone Thorn required for aggressive rock set lists, while Suhr V63 single-coils in the neck and middle positions provide classic tonal versatility. This solid-body electric guitar combines a roasted maple neck with ebony fingerboard, jumbo stainless steel frets, and a graphite metallic finish on an alder body.
The FU-Tone Floyd Rose bridge features a solid brass block with titanium screws and inserts, blocked specifically for dive-only operation to maintain tuning stability during heavy whammy use. An installed D-Tuna allows instant drop-tuning changes without retuning the entire instrument. The Pete Thorn 60's Soft V neck profile measures .830–.910 inches with a 1.687-inch nut width and features a 10–14-inch compound radius fingerboard. Suhr's SSCII electronics package ensures hum-free single-coil tones in split-coil mode, while Suhr locking tuners and chrome hardware complete the high-performance specification.
